How LlamaGen Credits Work
Understand credit units, comic versus anime Auto Model defaults, credit expiration, top-ups, redraws, failed generations, and how to plan a comic budget.
The essentials
LlamaGen credits are used for eligible AI operations. There is no single cost for all images or all comic pages: the amount depends on the workflow, model, and sometimes the operation and settings.
| Default Auto Model task | Default cost | Output unit |
|---|---|---|
| Comic creation | 150 credits | One comic panel |
| Anime image creation | 100 credits | One anime image generation |
These are both valid Auto Model defaults, but they describe the image-generation unit, not the number of finished comic pages or visual scenes shown inside an image. A page can be a single generated image containing several visual frames, or it can contain four separately generated, editable panels. Four separate Comic Auto Model panels cost 4 × 150 = 600 credits; one full-page image using an eligible 50-credit model costs 50 credits for that generation, even when several scenes are drawn inside it.
You can also manually choose eligible models with different credit prices; some comic panel models can range from 50 to 600 credits / panel. Check your model picker before generating.
One full-page image versus multiple editable panels
A page is the finished page of a comic. A generated panel/image is a chargeable generation output. A visual frame is one illustrated story moment, which may be drawn inside the same image without being a separately editable panel.
| Four-scene page created as… | Generated images | Initial credit estimate |
|---|---|---|
| One full-page image containing four visual frames, eligible 50-credit model | 1 | 50 credits |
| Four separately editable panels, 50-credit model | 4 | 200 credits |
| Four separately editable panels, Comic Auto Model at 150 credits | 4 | 600 credits |
For a 20-page comic with four visual scenes on each page, this creates very different budgets: 1,000 credits for 20 single-image pages at 50 credits each, 4,000 for 80 independently generated 50-credit panels, or 12,000 for 80 independently generated Comic Auto Model panels. The first option is still 20 full comic pages; its internal four frames are not four independent editable images.

What uses credits, and what doesn't?
See our detailed, action-by-action reference: What costs credits, what doesn't?. It explains artwork generation, redraws, text edits, cover art, and operations with their own separate charges.
A useful distinction: editing an existing text object is not the same as running AI to regenerate an image. Not every AI-assisted feature, export, or model is free just because text or layout editing may not call an image model.
Where credits come from
Your account may receive credits through an eligible subscription, a one-time top-up, or a promotion/reward. These credit types can have different availability and expiration rules. The current offer and account terms are authoritative.
Do credits expire? Under the currently published standard rules, unused subscription credits expire at the end of their billing cycle, while standard top-up credits are valid for 120 days from purchase. A specific promotion or purchase may state different terms; check that offer and Usage. Do not assume LlamaGen credits roll over forever.
Are top-ups subscriptions? No. A one-time credit top-up is a single purchase and does not begin a recurring subscription. If you also have a subscription, it has its own renewal and cancellation controls.
Are website and Comic API credits the same? No. Personal LlamaGen subscription credits and Comic API balances are separate and cannot be converted into each other.
Daily check-in bonus credits
Eligible users can earn check-in rewards in addition to plan credits. Under the standard current policy, seven consecutive check-ins award 1,900 credits to Free users and 3,800 credits to paid users. Free users have a seven-check-in monthly limit, and some regions receive reduced rewards. New rewards are valid for 30 days after each claim; older grants keep their original expiration dates. They are not permanent credits.
See Daily Check-In Credit Rewards for the full daily table, eligibility, and expiry rules.
Eligible free panel redraws
On paid plans, the first 10 eligible standard-model panel redraw operations in one comic currently cost 0 credits. The counter is per comic, not per panel. Free-plan redraws cost 100 credits each; paid standard-model redraws after the allowance also cost 100 credits. Certain premium Pro models are excluded and cost 600 credits per redraw. Review the displayed charge.

The credit balance and successful charge history are more useful than estimates when investigating an individual request.
Calculate how many panels you can make
Independent-panel budget = page count × separately generated panels per page × credits per panel, before retries and other generated assets. For single-image pages, use page count × credits per image instead.
For 20 pages, each built from four independently generated panels:
| Model selection | Initial illustration budget |
|---|---|
| Lower-cost 50-credit model, where available | 4,000 credits |
| Comic Auto Model, 150 credits/panel | 12,000 credits |
| Higher-cost 300-credit model | 24,000 credits |
This is not a quote for a whole book: front/back covers, character images, redraws, and other AI operations can be extra. The 20-page comic guide explains how to estimate the complete workflow without assuming every page costs the same.
What if I run out of credits?
A generation that requires more credits than you have may be unavailable until eligible subscription credits renew or you purchase a top-up. Existing project content does not need to be regenerated simply because the balance is low. Features and access still depend on your plan.
See current plans for credit allocations. One-time top-ups have separate conditions from monthly subscriptions.
What if a generation fails but credits were deducted?
Do not assume every failed request is refunded in the same way. Some workflows explicitly report a refund; others require inspection. First check whether the generation completed in the background, then match the entry in Usage.
